Passing the Torch

It is with a fond memories and a hopeful spirit (and a little childish glee - which I'll explain later) that I write this entry.

As of Friday, July 15th 2011 at 3pm, the Comfort Zone Cafe will no longer be on Elmwood Avenue. We are passing the torch to another wonderful family owned and operated business who are anxious to get their start in the "big city".

We have be in business for three years on Elmwood Avenue, and while we've made many friends and GREAT customers, it's time for us to head back home (that's that childish glee I mentioned). We will truly miss the wonderful people that we've met in the city and I will definitely be spending lots of time in the area enjoying all the things our city offers us. As a small town girl though, I have to admit, I am very excited to get to go back to my roots in Hamburg and work there with my family and customers that I've been missing the last few years.

BUT THE REAL REASONS I'M WRITING THIS
is that I wanted to give you a little heads up on what you can expect to find at 1002 & 1004 Elmwood Avenue as of their opening day on July 16, 2011!

Straight from one of the owner/operators to my inbox - "Ashker's is a family owned and operated cafe, with three other locations (Youngstown, Lewiston, and Niagara Falls). We serve fresh juices, smoothies, and coffee beverages. Look for our soon-to-come ice cream and frozen yogurt desserts! Ashker's looks forward to continuing on the warm and comfortable service and atmosphere offered by Comfort Zone Cafe. The focus of our menu and atmosphere is health and wellness, offering a fresh variety of breakfast and lunch options, such as wraps, paninis, salads, and baked goods."

I for one am excited to try out all that Ashker's has to offer to the Elmwood strip. Over the last few years I have seen a demand for healthy food options, ice cream, and a juice bar - so I expect great things from them!

I hope that you will show them the acceptance and loyalty that you have given us over the last 3 years on Elmwood and that they too can be a part of the family that resides on Elmwood Avenue from year to year.

With my sincerest gratitude and an ache in my heart, I would like to thank you all for your support and friendship on the strip these last 3 years. I will truly miss being a part of your mornings, helping you start your day out on the right foot, and experimenting with new tastes, soups, and creations for us to experience together.

Thank you to my friends (aka customers) on Elmwood Avenue,
Zenia

Cozy Seating Open

Well, it's been a long haul but our expansion is officially open on Elmwood Avenue. I think it's been worth the wait this time! It's so exciting to see all the new faces stopping in to check out the changes and all our loyal customers have been starting to check out the new seating. I hope everyone will stop in and check out the huge transformation the next time they're in the city.

Elmwood is making a few more healthy changes in the coming weeks. We just placed our first order for Fresh Wheatgrass Shots that will be available to purchase. The benefits of Wheatgrass Juice are numerous and we're really excited to be able to provide such a great product for our customers. Also, we have a new Vegan cook starting here a day or two week, her name is Shauna and we're looking forward to having her on our Elmwood team. Stop in to try some of her creations and welcome her to the Elmwood Strip.

Our open house for the expansion and Executive Conference Room will be held on February 16th, 2010 and everyone is welcome to stop in to meet the Quad-B team and to get a feel for the new space. There will be door prizes and refreshments for those business people who stop in for the open house.

Phase 2 Construction

Well, we're over a month into this expansion and we've finally started phase 2. All of the couches and chairs are in place with their cozy carpets and tables. We've gotten all of the extra plugs for our WiFi users to plug-in to and we're ready and waiting to go! I am so excited to open up on the new side and the anticipation is driving me crazy.

Here's a sneak peak of the new paint job on the other side. Stop in and take a peak while we finish it up!

We hope to see you soon :-D

Expansion Progress

Another week has passed and we are much closer to opening our new cozy section at the Elmwood location. The archway is completed between the two sides of the store and the base paint is on the walls. We are very excited to get all of the couches and chairs in place and to take down the plastic divider.  As with every project in older buildings, there were a few stumbling blocks, including a wall full of mirrors that had been dry-walled over, but our contractor did a great job and left us with a great result.  We are hoping to be able to seat people on that side by the 1st of the year. Phase 2 of the project (Quad-B Satellite Office) will start soon after.

We will be looking for local artists who would like to display/sell their artwork on the walls, please contact us at elmwood@comfortzonecafe.com if you would be interested.

In the mean time, the malls are certainly bustling. We have the 2010 Buffalo First coupon books in stock at all of our locations, but they're selling fast! It's an awesome book this year and we're really excited to be a part of it.

Photos of the new addition coming soon.

Happy Holidays!
